How it Began

“Future Rights was not born out of ambition — it was born out of discomfort, and a sense of responsibility I could no longer ignore.

It began in places where silence was loudest — in detention centres in Afghanistan, where boys recited their dreams through iron bars. In makeshift shelters where girls, survivors of violence and silence, whispered stories the world had already forgotten. In checkpoints and courtrooms, where children labelled as ‘migrants,’ ‘combatants,’ or simply ‘unwanted,’ were stripped of liberty because of who they were or where they came from.

I remember their faces — the exhaustion, the quiet defiance. Working with them, I realised the scale of what was broken. The system I was part of — the humanitarian and human rights machinery I once believed in — was not transforming reality, it was managing it. We spoke of protection, but built walls. We designed programs, but rarely shared power.

The world around us was hardening. Autocracies rising, civic spaces shrinking, impunity spreading like a quiet contagion. I felt powerless, and complicit — sheltered by privilege, watching systems preserve inequality in the name of order.

That realisation became my turning point. I could no longer accept a system that rewarded stagnation and called it stability. I knew we had to imagine alternatives — especially for children and youth living at the intersection of exclusion.

Future Rights was born from that reckoning — from the decision to say no to complicity and yes to courage. A space for lived experience to lead, for evidence to serve justice, and for those most affected to shape the systems meant to protect them.

In a world losing its sense of fairness, we chose to begin again — differently, and together.”

How We Work

Future Rights APS is a non-profit organisation for social promotion, registered in Italy and governed by a transparent, flexible structure.
Our work is guided by:

  • A Board of Directors ensuring compliance, ethics, and integrity.

  • An Advisory Group of youth, experts, and allies shaping strategy.

  • A Global Network of Collaborators who bring passion, not titles, to build real impact.

Together, we are rethinking how change happens — from local voices to global systems, from frustration to action.

Why We Exist

Future Rights exists to challenge injustice and reimagine power.
We create systems that listen — not impose; collaborate — not dictate.
Our purpose is simple yet radical:

To protect futures by putting leadership back into the hands of those who live the consequences.

We work alongside youth, adolescents, and grassroots changemakers, helping them turn their lived realities into strategies for social and systemic change.
Through the ELEVATE Model, we
translate lived experience into evidence, solidarity, and action — building bridges between local movements and global accountability.

What We Believe

There can be no peace without justice, and no justice without participation.
The cracks in the humanitarian and human rights landscape call for bold alternatives, not minor reforms.
Future Rights stands for those alternatives — evidence-based, inclusive, and youth-led.

We are here to question what’s broken, to build what’s fair, and to ensure that every young person has the power to shape the world they inherit.

Meet the Team

At Future Rights, diversity is not symbolic — it is the structure itself. We ensure balanced representation across age, gender, geography, and lived experience, grounding every decision in dialogue and equity.
